Tom Brady agreed to return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but now it seems that he’s taking some time off. Todd Bowles, the Buccaneers’ coach, just announced that Tom Brady will be on leave from the NFL for “personal reasons.”
NBC Sports reports that Tom Brady will be out of the NFL for a while to deal with a personal situation, Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles announced on Thursday, August 11th. The legendary quarterback, who led the Buccaneers to a Super Bowl victory in 2021, will not return to the team until after the team’s preseason opener against the Tennessee Titans on August 20th.
“Tom has been excused today. He’ll be taking… he’ll be back somewhere around after Tennessee. He’s going to deal with some personal things. We allotted this time because he wanted to get in and get chemistry with the guys and go through two weeks of training camp, knowing he wasn’t going to play the first two games.”
Bowles had this to say about the “personal matter,” although he did not provide any additional specifics. According to their talk, he is apparently “not anxious” about Brady’s absence or commitment. Brady led the NFL in passing attempts, yards, and touchdowns last season. The Buccaneers are anticipated to be Super Bowl contenders once again next season.
“[Tom] didn’t want to take away reps from Blaine [Gabbert] and Kyle [Trask] as well as Griff [Ryan Griffin] as far as going into these next two games. And it’s something he needs to handle.”
Brady re-signed with the Buccaneers in March after a temporary “retirement” from football. The seven-time Super Bowl champion resorted to Twitter to explain his decision.
“These past two months I’ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands. That time will come. But it’s not now. I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. They make it all possible. I’m coming back for my 23rd season in Tampa. Unfinished business LFG.”
Tom Brady will not return before the 20th of August because of personal reasons that have yet to be revealed. Hopefully, he can make his return and get back on track. What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments. Stay tuned to Thirsty for more information.
