Dana White is known to be a very controversial figure when it comes to the proper payment of UFC stars. He was called out for this fact many times by the likes of Jake Paul. However, it cannot be dismissed that Dana White has made UFC what it is today as it remains the most popular promotion for MMA in the world right now.
After the recent UFC Fight Night event in San Diego, the California State Athletic Commission made the payouts for the event public. The card featured seven fights on the prelims and six fights on the main card, headlined by a bantamweight bout between Dominick Cruz and ‘Chito’ Vera. The Ecuadorian made $300k, $150k to show and $150k to win, while the former champion earned $175k.
Azamat Murzakanov and debutant Iasmin Lucindo were the only two fighters on the card who competed for a maximum of $24k, $12k to win and $12k to show. This ticked off fans who dragged White, one calling him a modern-day slave owner.
You must be proud @danawhite, modern day slave owner.
Many other fans chimed in to take a shot at Dana White and the UFC. Fighter pay has been an issue for a long time, and it appears that subject will not go away.
Jake Paul recently blasted Dana White for being a multi-millionaire but still refusing to ever give his fighters a pay raise. It is unlikely White will stop getting dragged anytime soon.
