The McMahon Family and WWE have been synonymous over the promotion’s long history. All of that seemed to come into question, however, in the wake of Vince McMahon’s retirement.
Following Vince’s retirement, the company was left in the capable hands of Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, and Nick Khan, all of whom rose to top managerial positions. In addition, WWE’s stock has also continued to rise since that shocking news.
However, in spite of, or perhaps because of the rise in stock value, several rumors have popped, pertaining to the possibility of the promotion being sold. While there is no official news regarding the company being sold, Stephanie McMahon did address the rumors.
The rumors were addressed by Stephanie during the second quarter 2022 investors’ call. However, Stephanie neither confirmed, nor denied the rumors, giving a non-committal response. The Wrestling Observer reported that McMahon replied that they are always thinking about what is best for the company.
She also addresses the between the lines of the question which is a sale. She said VKM is still controlling shareholder and their management team is always thinking about what is best.
This is not the first time the company has been surrounded by rumors of being sold. Similar conjecture had taken place when the promotion had started releasing wrestlers from their contracts back in June 2021. However, in the absence of any official confirmation, business seems to be going on as usual for WWE.
