Ryan Gosling has played a lot of tragic characters in his lengthy acting career. He and Margot Robbie co-stars as Ken and Barbie in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming “Barbie” film. They have decided to work together once more for the franchise reboot for Ocean’s Eleven.
Variety has confirmed that Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie are in talks to co-star in Warner Bros.’ upcoming “Ocean’s Eleven” adaptation. It will be directed by Jay Roach and written by Carrie Solomon. The prequel plot is anticipated to take place in 1960s Europe, far from Las Vegas, the setting of the original 1960 film with the Rat Pack and the early 2000s trilogy starring George Clooney.
Plot details are being kept under wraps. New York City served as the setting for “Ocean’s 8,” which featured an all-female heist team lead by Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, and Anne Hathaway. Robbie will not only act in the movie, but she will also produce it under her LuckyChap label with Tom Ackerley and Michelle Graham.
Josey McNamara of LuckyChap, Olivia Milch, and Gary Ross will serve as executive producers. In addition, Village Roadshow is working on the project as an executive producer. Heist comedy prequel rumors first appeared in May, but they came with the disclaimer that the prequel is still in active development at Warner Bros. and has not yet received the go-ahead.
According to reports, the project plans to begin production in the spring of 2023. The premiere of “Barbie” starring Robbie and Gosling is set for July 21, 2023. Additionally, Gosling will work once more with Joe and Anthony Russo on the follow-up to his smash hit “The Gray Man” on Netflix. CAA and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern are Gosling’s agents.
