The original Wedding Crashers made its premiered on July 15th, 2005. David Dobkin, who most recently oversaw the musical comedy Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga starring Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams, directed the original film. A relatively encouraging report on the development of Wedding Crashers 2 was provided by Owen Wilson, and that should excite fans who have waited for this sequel.
Wilson and Vince Vaughn portrayed two bachelors who crashed weddings to get free meals and woo gorgeous women. The movie made a comeback in 2016 when it was revealed that co-writers of Fist Fight Van Robichaux and Evan Susser were working on a screenplay for it. Wilson recently spoke with Extra in-depth about his newest Paramount+ film, Secret Headquarters.
Wilson gave an update that provided some indication of confidence that the project was still in progress. He disclosed that Dobkin is sort of exploring some concepts and expressed his optimism that the movie would live up to the original if it were to be produced.
They’re working on some stuff, yes. David Dobkin, the director, I think he’s sort of, kind of exploring some ideas. And it was kind of, one of those movies that we had such a great time doing it, and then obviously it got a really nice response. So, just hoping if you do do something, that it can live up to the first one.
According to what Wilson stated, Dobkin appears to be in charge of the project, with Wilson and Vaughn standing by to see if they are required. However, it appears that the promised Robichaux and Susser script has simply vanished. Wilson claimed that Wedding Crashers 2 is in the works, but given his commitments to other projects like Loki season 2 and the new Haunted Mansion movie, it still seems highly unlikely that it will ever be realized.
