House of The Dragon is the spin-off of Game of Thrones. After its premiere, the show became the biggest HBO series opener of all time, according to Variety. House of The Dragon brought in 9.99 million viewers with its HBO and HBO Max release on Sunday.
The viewership details are a combination of both television airings and the viewership on HBO Max. Game of Thrones held the previous record for being the biggest HBO hit.
House of The Dragon has a serious leg up with its premiere viewership numbers. While the series premiere of Game of Thrones only received 4.2 million viewers in 2011, House of The Dragon more than doubles that number.
Euphoria is the biggest HBO hit after Game of Thrones. While it received significantly less viewership of 2.4 million, it is still the most watched series after Game of Thrones. The spin-off is based on George R.R. Martin’s novel Fire & Blood.
