Jake Atlas was released by WWE back in 2021 and then announced that he was leaving pro wrestling. That was not a long hiatus, as he went on to sign a deal with AEW. It didn’t take him very long to garner headlines for a less-than-savory reason.
The former WWE NXT Superstar faced Adam Cole during a previous episode of AEW Rampage. During the match, Jake Atlas suffered a knee injury which caused many fans to be concerned.
Atlas would then undergo successful surgery to repair his torn ACL and has been recovering since then. However, Atlas was arrested on battery charges after he assaulted his partner earlier this year.
At the time, it was reported that Atlas, “was out drinking at Bid Daddy’s Roadhouse the night before, 5/22 and called his partner at 10 PM EST to come pick him up. When his partner arrived and attempted to bring Atlas home, Atlas instead wanted his partner to remain and drink with him. The victim stated that Atlas later wanted him to go back to another friend’s house to be intimate together, but Atlas, according to the victim, was upset his partner was showing ‘half more attention’ to her than Atlas, sparking a ‘verbal argument.'”
As revealed by TMZ Sports, arrest footage showed that Jake Atlas told police officers he was “an international trained superstar” and then slammed his boyfriend as “terrible at sex” in a rant.
“I am an international trained superstar. I have worked across the country, across the world, with my name. He is a nobody. He is a f**ing bitch ass, f***ing p***y.
[he] is a terrible boyfriend and he’s terrible at sex.”
The domestic violence case was eventually dropped back in June as well. Atlas also issued a statement on the whole case. Jake Atlas is also unlikely to make his return to AEW as well. We’ll have to see what the future holds for Atlas now.
