Zac Efron is considered to be a fairly characterized actor. Fans are still unable to see Efron in serious roles, as his most popular role includes the High School Musical Disney flicks. However, he is about to appear in a very different light.
Deadline previously announced that the upcoming project “The Iron Claw” would feature Zac Efron in a major role. The film would be based upon the tragic backstory of the famed Von Erich family from the 60s.
The Von Erich family was a dynasty of wrestlers who were highly influential back in the day. They still make waves to this day, and their story is filled with ups and downs. PW Insider provided a brief on the upcoming project.
Based on the true story of the Von Erichs, the film follows the rise and fall of the Von Erich family, a dynasty of wrestlers who made a huge impact on the sport from the 1960s to the present day.
PWInsider has confirmed that Efron is on board with the project, and even revealed what role would he be taking on. Efron will play the role of Kevin Von Erich, which is the only surviving member of the patriarch of the family, Fritz Von Erich. However, PWInsider also reports that the family has zero relationships with the project.
The Von Erichs still have a presence in the pro-wrestling world today. Marshal and Ross Von Erich, Kevin’s two sons, are huge MLW stars, and even competed at Starrcast. The film is being directed by Sean Durkin with an A24 production.
