“The Batman,” starring Robert Pattinson, has received widespread critical acclaim since its release. Not only critics, but even fans have been singing praises of Reeves’s noir detective take on the superhero.
There is good news for fans of the character, as Deadline just reported that Matt Reeves is already working on a script for a sequel to the movie. Reeves is being aided by Mattson Tomlin in the writing process.
While this is a promising update, nothing is set in stone yet, as Warner Bros. have yet to officially greenlight the project. The sequel is still listed as “in development,” which might be cause for concern. However, the studio does seem to be very interested in the project.
It is no secret that Reeves has been fighting an uphill battle, with stiff competition from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the relatively poor box office performance of DC movies.
Against all odds, The Batman did gross over $770 million globally, and was considered a critical and commercial success. If the sequel is greenlit, Robert Pattinson is set to reprise the role of Batman. We have our fingers crossed.
