On April 30th Naomi Judd was found dead, and now we have even more details about this tragic case. Sadly, her family is now dealing with the tragic aftermath following her passing.
TMZ reports that the Nashville medical examiner’s office released the full details of the autopsy to the public. It was also found she had left a suicide note, which was found near her body.
The singer and actress was 76 and had been very open about her mental health struggles. The report stated that Judd struggled with depression, anxiety, along with bipolar disorder. This, no doubt, was the reason she had taken her own life, which was done via a gunshot to the head.
Naomi’s daughter, Ashley, revealed in May that her mother’s death was a suicide. “Her brain hurt, it physically hurt and I’m tasked with an exceedingly difficult task of disclosing the matter in the way my mother chose to continue to live,” Ashley said during an interview. After the announcement of her death, it had been highly speculated that her death was a suicide given her history of mental health struggles.
Ashley was also the person who discovered her mother’s body. She was visiting her mother while she [Ashley] was home in Tennessee. Judd said her mother had asked her to come and stay with her, which Ashley obliged. “I went upstairs to let her know that her good friend was there and I discovered her.”
Days after Judd’s passing, Ashley and sister Wynnona paid tribute to their mother at the Country Music Hall of Fame ceremony. As for the suicide note, it hasn’t been made public. The Judd family asked for the death records to remain sealed given the way she died.
