Britney Spears draws millions of eyeballs every time she does anything. The ‘Unprotected’ singer appears to have an idyllic life, but she still has quite a story to tell. Britney Spears just released a shocking video where she revealed that she rejected “a lot of money” for an interview with Oprah.
Spears recounted her life in her own words this time. The pop star debuted a shocking 22-minute audio tape on YouTube on Sunday revealing the “abuse” she suffered as a result of her conservatorship, as well as why she turned down “a lot of money” to conduct a candid interview with Oprah Winfrey.
“I get nothing out of sharing all of this. I have offers to do interviews with Oprah and so many people [for] lots and lots of money, but it’s insane. I don’t want any of it. For me, it’s beyond a sit-down proper interview.”
In the since-deleted clip, the “Hold Me Closer” singer lashed out at her family once more, revealing how she felt abandoned throughout her conservatorship. She confirmed her prior accusation that she was put into a mental health facility in early 2019 after objecting to a dance move. She revealed the invasive conditions within the institution, where she allegedly had to strip in front of others and attend “militant” sorts of therapy, in the recording.
“They literally killed me. They threw me away. I felt like my family threw me away. I was performing for thousands of people at night in Vegas, the rush of being a performer, the laughter, the respect … I was a machine. I was a f–king machine, not even human almost. It was insane.”
“They put me in an ignorant state of mind to make me feel like I needed them. If you don’t do what we say, we’re going to show you who’s boss.”
Spears claimed that she was forced to tell the world that she sought treatment because of her father Jamie Spears’ colon disease, but that she was “crying” to her father and then-conservator, Jamie Spears, and her staff behind closed doors. Britney went on to detail Jamie and his conservators’ power over her, revealing that she was once in a “secret relationship” with an anonymous male.
“I was, like, ‘Why are you guys doing this?’ Now you don’t have to go, but if you don’t go, we’re going to go to trial and you’re going to lose. I have way more people on my side than you [do]. You don’t even have a lawyer, so don’t even think about it.”
Britney further described the amount of control that Jamie and his co-conservators had over her, sharing that she was once in a “secret relationship” with an unnamed man.
“I was talking to a guy, and he wanted to just leave the country with me. We had it all set up to leave, and it was a secret relationship.”
“My biggest fear was ‘What would my dad do if I did do something wrong? What if they found me? What would they do?’ … And she looked at me and said, ‘Are you kidding me, Britney? Your dad would never do that to you.’”
Despite everything that has happened between her and her father, Britney says she is “honestly more angry” with her mother, Lynne Spears because when reporters call, she supposedly “innocently hides” and does not speak up for her daughter.
“I feel like she could have gotten me a lawyer in literally two seconds. My friend helped me get one in the end, but every time I made contact with a firm, my phone was tapped and my phone would get taken away from me.”
Mathew Rosengart, the former federal prosecutor who helped Britney get out of conservatorship in November 2021, is looking into charges that Jamie and his co-conservators spied on her. According to publishing insiders, Britney is working on a landmark $15 million book deal to give even more details about her ordeal.
The singer’s reps were approached at the time, but they declined to respond. However, listening to the singer’s account has led to the conclusion that Britney has had a difficult existence in the past. What are your thoughts? Stay tuned to Thirsty for more information.
