One of the most adored characters from the first Hocus Pocus is the talking cat. At the beginning of the film, the Sanderson Sisters use their magic to change Thackary Binx from a boy to a cat. Director Anne Fletcher of Disney’s Hocus Pocus 2 recently confirmed that Binx would be back in the follow-up.
Along with a number of new cast members, Disney revealed early on that Doug Jones would play Billy Butcherson once more, channeling his inner zombie. The possibility of seeing further recognizable faces held the audience in suspense. Omri Katz, Vinessa Shaw, and Thora Birch, the film’s titular trio, are reportedly not returning for the sequel, but the big mouse may still have some surprises in store.
Fletcher stated that Binx would return in Hocus Pocus 2 while chatting with EW. She went on to remark that even though everyone’s favorite talking cat might not be speaking, he will still be there. She did, however, clarify that the movie doesn’t have any talking cats.
Billy and Binx, I wanted back. We’re having some fun with him, so, we’ll see.
In recognizing that there will at the very least be a mention to the black cat, Fletcher stated that she believes Binx to be the soul of Hocus Pocus. Cobweb, a kitten who appears briefly in the Hocus Pocus 2 teaser, appears to be Disney’s newest animal mascot. Gilbert, a new character for Sam Richard, is the one who owns Cobweb and turned the Sanderson cottage into the Salem Magic Shop. She made a jest that suggests Cobweb is not a talking cat.
