Steve White was more than a professional football player. He also contributed to the sports blog SB Nation by writing about football. Many loved being in his presence, and his memory will not fade. Unfortunately, it has now been reported that White has passed away.
According to TMZ, former Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end Steve White has died at the age of 48. Over the years, White has been upfront and honest about his health, speaking about his battle with lymphocytic leukemia. This is cancer that can cause bone marrow and blood problems, leading to White’s need for a bone marrow transplant.
“Many of you know that I have been dealing with a cancer (CLL) diagnosis over the last 8 years,” White wrote on social media back in April.
I am now at a point where I need to go through a bone marrow transplant. It is something I knew would eventually have to happen since 2017 and now that day is actually here.
White had the opportunity to play with several fantastic teammates throughout his career. Those within the organization definitely adored him. For example, Warren Sapp paid respect to his late teammate on Twitter.
White’s death is heartbreaking, and our sincere condolences are with his family and friends at this difficult time. RIP Steve White.
