Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. married in September 2002. On Thursday, the actress celebrated their milestone anniversary by sharing a black-and-white photo from their wedding day. Sarah now wants Howard Stern to pay her back after claiming her marriage to Prinze will fail.
Sarah chastised Howard Stern for suggesting her marriage to Freddie Prinze Jr. will fail. “@HowardStern what do you think?!?” Gellar captioned a series of screenshots on her Instagram Story on Thursday. It’s from an interview in which the SiriusXM host made the unfounded claim to her husband in 2001.
During the interview, Stern famously bet $1 million that Prinze and the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” star would divorce. “@HowardStern I think you owe us,” Gellar, who celebrated her 20th wedding anniversary with the actor on Thursday, teased in another slide. The controversial interview took place about a year before Prinze and Gellar, now 46 and 45, married.
Stern, 68, boldly addressed the “She’s All That” star at the time, “so you will marry Sarah Michelle Gellar even though you know that it won’t last?” Prinze confidently replied, “Oh, absolutely it will last.” Stern then queried, “you think you know everything?” The Scooby-Doo star replied, “No, I don’t.”
The radio host continued, “You think [you’re] gonna know how you feel at 35? You’re gonna be a completely different man.” However, Prinze Jr. doubled down, saying, “And she will be a completely different woman, but that’s all right.” Stern responded by hedging a bet against their love.
I wanna make a written bet with you. In about 10 years, you’re gonna hunt me down and go, ‘Howard, I owe you money.’
Prinze jokingly agreed, saying, “OK.” The “Freddie” star joined his wife in taunting Stern on Thursday, reposting the interview to his own Instagram Story with the caption, “She will not forget.”
Stern looks to be owing the happily married couple a large sum of money since they outlived his prediction by ten years. Let’s see whether Howard responds. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
