The Weeknd is well-known as a talented artist who is also a kind person. Over the years, The Weeknd has delivered several acts of kindness. Recently, he fulfilled the dream of a young cancer patient by meeting her backstage.
The Weeknd fulfilled a little girl’s wish by agreeing to see her backstage at one of his shows. This young fan’s mother explained just before the introduction that her daughter is currently battling cancer and that she wants nothing more than to meet her favorite artist. “My daughter wants to meet her favorite artist @theweeknd and go to his concert,” the woman explained in a tweet.
I want to make that happen for her, she deserves the best of the best. she’s kicking cancer’s butt and still being a light in this world. help me make it happen for her. #AbelMeetKatana.
Fortunately for the little girl and her family, The Weeknd gladly agreed to meet her, and they were able to deliver some gifts she prepared for him directly to the Grammy Award-winning singer’s dressing room. In one of the interactions, the child, who was visibly excited, asked, “Are you going to sing on the stage?” to which he replies: “Yes, I’m getting ready to sing on the stage.”
This young fan then gave The Weeknd a cutout of the letter “A” and something for his dog. He then said, “This is for my dog! Really? Thank you so much.” They later shared another hug as he gets ready to perform.
As previously reported, The Weeknd was forced to stop his performance in Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium on Saturday night, September 3rd, shortly after losing his voice. “I don’t know what just happened… but I just lost my voice,” he told the crowd.
This is killing me, I don’t want to stop the show but I can’t give you the concert I want to give you right now. I’m gonna make sure everybody’s good — you’ll get your money back — I’ll do a show real soon for you guys.
But I wanted to come out and personally apologize. You know how much this kills me, I’m sorry. I love you thank you so much.
The Weeknd’s hometown show is rescheduled to September 22nd. There is currently no word on a makeup date for L.A. We hope that the little girl makes a speedy recovery. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
