For many fans, Jon Jones is one of the all-time greats in the history of the UFC. Since last year, Jones made it clear he has a target in mind for his UFC return as well. Nate Diaz also doesn’t think Jon Jones is the MMA GOAT, no matter what fans might say.
Jon Jones was arrested on domestic violence charges last year in Las Vegas. This was something many fans found quite shocking. However, UFC President Dana White was not really surprised by the incident. Anything like that can tarnish a fighter’s legacy.
Due to his unfortunate actions, Jon Jones was banned from using the Jackson Wink MMA gym by coach Mike Winkeljohn. Jon Jones then blamed his misdeeds on his past trauma.
Police footage of his arrest in Las Vegas surfaced as well. In the end, Jon Jones’ fiancée of 9 years, Jessie Moses left him after his arrest in Las Vegas last year. While speaking to ESPN MMA, Nate Diaz made it clear he doesn’t think Jon Jones is the MMA GOAT.
“If you do steroids, that’s just completely – I mean, if you’re caught, you’re a f*cker. If you’re doing it outloud, that’s different, like ‘hey, we’re all shooting steroids’ and then whip everybody ass cause I’m willing to fight a f*cker on steroids. I don’t give a f*ck, but if you’re doing it all on the high, let’s all just talk about it.
You do steroids, I’ll smoke weed and let’s get in there and squabble. I don’t give a f*ck, but you sneak steroids and then you’re considered, you’re out of the question. That whole legacy is gone and done with”.
Dana White also previously stated that UFC has already had talks for Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic once Jones returns. We’ll have to see when Jon Jones will make his return to the Octagon this year.
