Donald Trump’s choice of words has always sparked outrage around the world. Despite the fact that he has not been the president for some time, he remains the subject of political debate. Another of his controversial comments recently resurfaced, and he is once again under scrutiny.
On the 21st anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, a video clip of former President Donald Trump reacting to that dreadful day has resurfaced. The clip is from a later-in-the-day WWOR-TV News broadcast on September 11, 2001. In it, Trump called into the station to discuss the devastating destruction of the World Trade Center towers.
Instead of talking about the serious situation, Donald concentrated on one of his New York City properties, which is currently the tallest in the city, in a manner that many have called insensitive and narcissistic. Since Trump entered the political realm, the video has been widely circulated. “It was an amazing phone call,” Trump said at the time.
40 Wall Street actually was the second tallest building in downtown Manhattan and it was, actually before the World Trade Center, the tallest. And when they built the World Trade Center it became known as the second tallest and now it’s the tallest.
The video was uploaded on Twitter by noted left-leaning pundit and former federal prosecutor Ron Filipkowski on Sunday. The video received approximately 600,000 views as of Sunday afternoon. Filipkowski’s tweet was shared by a number of other public figures, including Illinois Representative Adam Kinzinger, an ardent Gop critic of Trump and his supporters. “I forgot about this,” the congressman tweeted. “What a narcissist.”
“Today marks the 21 year anniversary of Sir Donald Trump boasting on tape that he now has the tallest building in lower Manhattan,” comedian John Fugelsang tweeted. “NEVER FORGET that, on 9/11, trump bragged that he had the tallest building after the World Trade Center came down, and years later Jared Kushner took $2 BILLION DOLLARS from the people who planned 9/11,” Majid Padellan, better known online as “Brooklyn Dad Defiant,” said.
In her own tweet, political commentator Lindy Li made a parallel between the infamous clip and Trump’s recent run-in with the FBI over his alleged handling of top-secret government documents at Mar-a-Lago. Trump has frequently denied any wrongdoing in regard to the documents, claiming that any classified documents he took from the White House were declassified.
FBI found 43 EMPTY folders for classified docs. Trump may’ve sold the nuclear secrets of an ally (Israel) to the Saudis the funders of 9/11. Tomorrow is the 21st anniversary of the murder of 2996 Americans. 21st anniversary of Trump falsely bragging about having the tallest tower.
Trump was notably absent from a list of former presidents that included Barack Obama and Bill Clinton at last year’s 9/11 20th anniversary memorial event. In a statement issued the same day, Trump mentioned briefly the attacks and praised first responders, but largely criticized President Joe Biden for his handling of the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan.
“The leader of our country was made to look like a fool, and that can never be allowed to happen,” Trump said at the time about the chaotic exit he helped to negotiate, blaming “bad planning, incredible weakness, and leaders who truly don’t understand what was happening.”
This is the 20th year of this war and should have been a year of victory and honor and strength. Instead, Joe Biden and his inept administration surrendered in defeat.
Let’s see if any more of his controversy surfaces in the future. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
