Zendaya is one of the biggest powerhouse actresses in Hollywood today. With the acclaimed television series Euphoria as Rue Bennett, it brought her tons of awards recognition in season one. Now, she’s at again.
The ‘Euphoria’ star’s win at the Emmy Awards on Monday night makes her the youngest two-time Emmy acting winner at the age of 25. Zendaya received a standing ovation as she went to the stage to accept her award.
Zendaya was in tears as she gave her thanks. She gave special thanks to Euphoria creator Sam Levinson, who “believed” in her even when she didn’t believe in herself.
“And then lastly, I just want to say my greatest wish for Euphoria was that it could help people,” an emotional Zendaya said. “I just want to say thank you to everyone who has shared their story with me. I want you to know that anyone who has loved a Rue or feels like they are a Rue, I want you to know I’m so grateful for your stories. And I carry them with me and I carry them with her.”
Season 2 of Euphoria was extraordinary for Zendaya in her performance as Rue Bennett in Euphoria. Rue’s mental breakdown in episode five was considered one of the best performances of the year. Zendaya transformed into Rue as the character descended into a dangerous emotional relapse.
Zendaya’s Emmy win in 2022 marked the first time the actress was able to accept the award in front of a live audience. She won her first Emmy in 2020 and had to accept the award in via Zoom due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
