Ozzy Osbourne’s major surgery is well-known among his fans. The Black Sabbath rocker recently underwent much-needed neck surgery, but he’s now back in his stride. In a recent interview, Ozzy Osbourne stated that he is determined to tour again.
The Prince of Darkness took a moment to reflect during the drive to his unexpected August 8th performance in front of 30,000 fans at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in his hometown of Birmingham, England. Ozzy spoke out to PEOPLE about his emotions while sitting in the library of his $18 million Los Angeles estate.
The games were a quarter of a mile away from the school that I went to growing up, and as we drove past it, I thought, ‘If somebody would have told me I’d be doing this up the road so many years later, I would’ve never believed them.’ My life has been incredible with the things that have happened to me — both good and bad.
The musician and former Black Sabbath frontman made his “mild” form of the disease diagnosis public for the first time in January 2020. Parkinson’s disease is a condition in which the brain slowly degrades over time. Delay in movement, tight and inflexible muscles and uncontrollable shaking of various body parts are the three most common symptoms.
Ozzy had to be supported by a back brace during his performance at the Commonwealth Games, but his return to the stage after a three-year absence offered him newfound hope. Patient Number 9, his 13th studio album, is currently out, and he is concentrating on building up his physical fitness so that he may resume touring.
It’s where I belong. The relationship I have with my audience is the biggest love affair of my life.
I am determined to get back on stage even if I have to be nailed to a board and wheeled on. Survival is my legacy.
Ozzy will be returning on stage, which is great news. We’ve got to give more power to The Madman for this one. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
