Zendaya was the winner of the “Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series” category at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards, for her portrayal of Rue Bennett on Euphoria. It was a big night for her, but her boyfriend Tom Holland wasn’t around. However, according to recent reports, Zendaya has opened up about how she feels about it.
Before anyone gets worried, things are going well for the couple. Tom was busy shooting in NYC when the awards show was taking place in Los Angeles. A Zendaya insider told Hollywood Life, “Tom is Zendaya’s biggest fan. He’s so proud of her, and he was bummed he couldn’t be with her in LA for Emmy night.”
“But, she was totally fine with it. If anything, she encouraged him not to make the trip because she knows how demanding his shooting schedule is [for The Crowded Room] right now and for her, work is always the priority. And it’s not like they haven’t had time together — he visited her in Europe last month and then she was with him [in New York] for her birthday [Sept. 2]. And she was even able to visit him on-set last week.
They always figure out ways to see each other, no matter how busy they get. And even when they are apart, they’re in constant contact, he’s super proud of her and the most supportive boyfriend.”
When Zendaya won the 2022 Emmy, she admitted that she texted Tom first. She explained in an interview with E! News, “I didn’t have to text my mom because my mom was already there, she’s here tonight, which is very special. And I text[ed] my boyfriend.”
Zendaya praised the cast and crew of the series for their assistance in helping her deliver the award-winning performance in her Emmy acceptance speech for her role as Rue, a teenager fighting an opioid addiction on Euphoria. Stay tuned to Thirsty for the latest updates.
