Actor Michael Pitt, who made a name for himself in ‘Boardwalk Empire,’ had been taken into police custody last Friday. He was also taken to a hospital after a very public outburst in New York City.
According to TMZ, as revealed by a video obtained by them, Pitt was taken to a stretcher and surrounded by EMS technicians who were taking him down a sidewalk in Bushwick, Brooklyn, likely waiting for an ambulance.
Pitt looked like he was totally out of it. It was said that someone called the police to report that Pitt was throwing objects at people, possibly from the rooftop of a building.
Police officers arrived at the scene very quickly and Pitt was apprehended, but not charged with a crime because he was deemed an emotionally disturbed person. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
In New York, a person who is placed on an involuntary psych hold can only be held for 72 hours, unless the hospital petitions a judge to keep the patient, and then only for a maximum of 60 days in total. We’ll keep you updated on his status.
