Michael Jordan is one of the very few athletes to have achieved legendary status. He is celebrated by sports enthusiasts throughout the world for this very reason. Therefore, it is not surprising that his jersey recently hit the auction block and fetched over $10 Million.
Some wealthy person just spent an unbelievable sum of money to grab a rare Michael Jordan jersey. He invested over $10 MILLION to buy some of His Airness’ former threads.
On September 6th, an auction was held for the MJ jersey, which the legendary Chicago Bulls player wore during Game 1 of the 1998 NBA Finals. According to information provided to TMZ Sports, the deal closed on Wednesday for an astounding $10,091,000.
The amount is surprising given that Sotheby’s, who organized the auction, initially estimated it would bring in roughly $3 million. According to the report, the eight-figure price tag broke several records, including the most ever paid for a Michael Jackson item and for a basketball jersey at auction.
Jordan rocked that jersey when he hit 33 points against the Utah Jazz. MJF lost the game in the end, but he and the Bulls went on to win the series, bringing him his sixth NBA championship ring.
There hasn’t been any information out about the buyer, but they definitely have a lot of money to invest in their new jersey. Stay tuned to Thirsty for more updates.
