J.K. Rowling is one of the most successful authors in history, thanks to her work on The Harry Potter series. However, Rowling blasted pro-trans mobs for “throwing smoke bombs” and “howling abuse at lesbians,” after police detained two individuals over confrontations at a “Let Women Speak” event.
As part of her national speaking tour, Standing For Women founder Kellie-Jay Keen was scheduled to deliver a speech in Brighton today. Because of her opinions on gender equality, she has regularly drawn the wrath of pro-trans activists.
Reclaim Pride Brighton protesters, who vowed to “bring flags and noisemakers” while being told to hide their faces, interrupted her speech today. It caused a confrontation between pro-trans and proponents of women’s rights. Images from the incident showed police pulling two individuals away. The opposing parties had to be divided by a line of police officers, many of whom were wearing black masks.
Rowling, who has received criticism for her public stances on trans issues on numerous occasions, blamed the conflicts on the pro-trans group today.
Rowling tweeted,
“I see the Be Kind brigade are once more hiding behind their black masks, throwing smoke bombs, screaming “scum” at women speaking up for their sex-based rights and howling abuse at lesbians for not doing d**k.”
Police arrested two individuals during the altercations after smoke bombs were thrown in the crowds. On suspicion of assault, one individual is still being held, and another is being held on suspicion of impeding an officer.
The Harry Potter author since she mocked a June 2020 online article that used the words “people who menstruate” rather than “women.” After making negative remarks about the transgender lobby, she has come under attack by trolls. Last year, after her address was published online, protesters were seen holding placards outside her home. Stay tuned to Thirsty for more updates.
