Queen Elizabeth II, Britain’s longest-reigning queen and a pillar of stability for much of the turbulent century, has died. Even though many families come together in a period of healing following the loss of a loved one, the mountain of resentment between Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and The Royal Family is simply too large to overcome. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently learned they were “uninvited” to a state reception from press reports.

Page Six reports, that after reading news stories, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle discovered they were “uninvited” from a state reception for world leaders and foreign royals. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who have been in London this past week with the rest of the royal family in mourning for Queen Elizabeth II, received an invitation to the event on Sunday night. However, a spokesperson for King Charles III confirms to the outlet that “the invite is for working members of the royal family only.”

Harry and Meghan actually got the invitation and no-one has actually told them they are uninvited.

According to a second palace insider, “I’m told they only found out they were uninvited by reading press reports.” Before the Queen’s funeral on Monday, Charles and Queen Consort Camilla will host a reception. Among the heads of state expected to attend are President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

At the Buckingham Palace reception, guests will also be greeted by the Prince and Princess of Wales, Princess Royal, and the Earl and Countess of Wessex. In the midst of the chaos, Harry will hold in vigil for the monarch on Saturday night at Westminster Hall alongside his brother, Prince William, and their cousins. On Friday night, the King and his siblings held a vigil.

Sources close to the Sussexes have been emphasizing all week that the pair will do whatever is asked of them. Harry, who was stripped of his military titles when he and Markle left royal duties in January 2020, originally planned not to wear his uniform at any events, but Buckingham Palace changed its mind and the former army officer will wear his uniform for a vigil on Saturday.

Prince Harry was simply prepared to wear whatever his grandmother made plans for. He is focused on honoring her and that’s it.

On September 8, Queen Elizabeth II died at the age of 96. Her funeral will take place on Monday. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
