Kanye West has established himself as a true businessman and an artist in the eyes of many of his fans. Kanye is well-known for his social media antics and he might soon bring them to TikTok as well.
Over the weekend, the legendary Chicago rapper signed up for the well-known video platform and created a verified account using his officially abbreviated name, “Ye.” He opened his account right away, and on Sunday, he posted his first TikTok video.
The nearly three-minute-long video features Kanye sitting inside a car as songs from his 2019 album Jesus Is King, including “Selah,” “Closed on Sunday,” and “God Is,” blared from the car’s speakers. While Kanye’s TikTok page alone has over 210,000 followers, the captionless video has already received over 680,000 plays and nearly 170,000 likes. The Donda rapper, however, is not currently following anyone.
The same in-car video was shared by West on his Instagram Stories along with videos of him performing gospel and soul classics by Chris Stapleton, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, and Sam Cooke.
Given his history of vocal, if not contentious, social media remarks, Kanye’s TikTok career had a notably subdued beginning. The billionaire rapper has been expressing his complaints with Adidas and Gap, partners in his Yeezy fashion empire, for the past few weeks. Stay tuned to Thirsty for the latest updates.
