Mariah Carey is one of the most popular pop stars that America has ever seen. She has given us hit music that we will always remember. While celebrating the 25th-anniversary re-release of her best-selling album, Butterfly, superstar vocalist Mariah Carey revealed a significant surprise.
Carey recently appeared for a nearly two-hour interview for the Rolling Stone Music Now podcast. The former “American Idol” judge disclosed that she intends to release an alternative rock album she recorded around the same time. Her record label kept it secret out of concern that it would damage her reputation.
Carey said that she found the original tapes of a prohibited rock album she made in 1995 with the band Eel Tree, which eventually changed its name to Chick. She intends to make the album available to fans. Carey was formally working on her fifth album, “Daydream,” at the time and was unhappy in her union with manager Tommy Mottola.
I was exploring my musical range, but I was also filled with rage. It’s always been a challenge for me to acknowledge and express anger. My personal life was suffocating during ‘Daydream’ and I was in desperate need of release.
The rock album was discussed by the five-time Grammy winner in her 2020 memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey. Even while she was working on “Daydream” during the day, she would secretly record an alternative rock album late at night that contained deeply personal songs that she co-wrote. Stay tuned to Thirsty for the latest news and updates.
