Mike Evans is currently one of the best players in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 28-year-old pass-catcher is also full of confidence. After shoving Saints defensive back Marshon Lattimore on the field during the Bucs-Saints game, the NFL has just suspended Mike Evans for one game.
Mike Evans was suspended for this particular game, which shocked fans. In fact, Tom Brady blasted the NFL over the suspension. According to TMZ Sports, his one-game suspension has been upheld by the NFL,
In a tweet, the NFL confirmed James Thrash, the hearing officer in the Buccaneers star’s appeal, affirmed the ban. Evans was initially informed of the punishment in a letter from NFL executive Jon Runyan on Monday.
“You knocked your opponent to the ground, and a melee ensued involving players from both teams,” Runyan wrote in the ruling. “Your aggressive conduct could have caused serious injury to your opponent.”
According to Adam Schefter, Evans will only lose $62,000 instead of $715,000 while out, because of an offseason contract restructure. Regardless, the suspension was upheld and that’s the bottom line.
