Shakira took to Elle Magazine‘s October issue to address her split with Gerard Pique. She discussed her devastating breakup with Pique after 12 years of marriage for the first time. The Colombian singer was open about how challenging life has been since the collapse of her relationship with the football player.

The singer feels the split with with Pique is really hard to talk about personally. She initially remained quiet and just tried to process it all. She went on to say that the constant spotlight on her personal life has been difficult for her family.

‘I’ve remained quiet and just tried to process it all. Um, and yeah, it’s hard to talk about it, especially because I’m still going through it, and because I’m in the public eye and because our separation is not like a regular separation. And so it’s been tough not only for me, but also for my kids. Incredibly difficult.’

Shakira has tried her best to conceal the situation in front of her kids. She tries to do it and to protect them, because that’s her number one mission in life. It has been more unbearable for her since they have a hard time with being bombarded by media and fans.
