Ryan Grantham rose to popularity as he played the role of Jeffery Augustine in the series “Riverdale.” The star was accused of murdering his own mother, Barbara White, back in 2020. Now he will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
TMZ reports that Grantham received the sentence of life in prison, six months after pleading guilty to the murder of his mom. He got the sentence on Wednesday at British Columbia, Canada Supreme Court.
Prosecutors on the case revealed that the star recorded his admission of guilt on his own camera. He also recorded the aftermath of the incident, saying that she would have figured out it was him in the moments after.
I shot her in the back of the head. In the moments after, she would have known it was me.
Grantham shot his mother on the back of her head as she played the piano while they were at home. He loaded his car with guns, ammunition, Molotov cocktails as well as directions for Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s residence at Rideau Cottage.
The former actor also confessed that he wanted to kill Trudeau, as per detectives on the case. Justice Kathleen Ker described the case to be “heartbreaking, tragic, and life-shattering.” For the first 14 years of his sentence, Grantham won’t be able to get parole.
