Justin Roberts is one of the most recognizable voices in the world of pro wrestling. Over the decades, the ring announcer has had a long and illustrious career, full of landmark moments.
Given how long Roberts has been a ring announcer, it would be a difficult task to narrow down any one moment in his career as the biggest. However, Roberts has just done that.
Roberts recently made an appearance on Chris Jericho’s podcast, “Talk Is Jericho,” wherein he recalled what he considers the “biggest announcement” of his career.
I’d say my biggest announcement in WWE was Brock [Lesnar] beating Taker for the streak. That was the biggest announcement I ever made that got the smallest reaction.
This is, of course, in reference to WrestleMania 30, when Lesnar bested the Undertaker, who had, at that point, accumulated a solid 21 victory streak at WrestleMania. Many consider the fight to be the most shocking moment in WWE history.
Roberts himself recalled how uncomfortable the moment was, claiming that “everybody’s jaws were dropped,” and that “nobody was cheering.” Roberts also confirmed that even he himself was in disbelief.
Do you agree that this was the most shocking moment in WrestleMania history? If not, what was?
