It’s been less than 24 hours since Ryan Reynolds broke the internet with the official date for Deadpool 3 and the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Anticipating for the project is at a fever pitch, but the two have cleared up some speculations regarding Wolverine’s fate.
In a new video that was released, Reynolds and Jackman teased Logan’s part in the highly-anticipated third installment, while setting the record straight that they won’t be touching on the events from James Mangold’s 2017 film Logan.
“‘Logan’ takes place in 2029. Totally separate thing,” Reynolds confirmed. “Logan died in ‘Logan.’ Not touching that. What actually happens in our film….”
Reynolds continues to presumably share details about Wolverine’s return, Wham!’s “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” blasts over the video and blocks out everything he’s saying. That part is silly but at least Marvel fans know that “Deadpool 3” will not be screwing with Wolverine’s powerful death scene in “Logan.”
The MCU is now exploring the multiverse. Jackman is expected to play a different iteration of Wolverine as the version who died in “Logan” remains dead.
Reynolds and Jackman also end the video by thanking Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. No new information about additional casting for the film, but should be announced in the near future of other characters from the Deadpool movies returning.
