One Direction was once one of the most successful boy bands, but everything changed when Zayn Malik left the group. After Zayn’s departure shattered the group, the rest of the members took a break. The fallout between Louis Tomlinson and Malik is still the most discussed topic among fans. Tomlinson recently shade some light where their relationship stands with the former bandmate.
Tomlinson appeared on the Wednesday episode of The Zach Sang Show and was asked if he is still friends with Malik. He replied that you should ask Zayn about it. He also remarked that he is much closer to putting their feud behind him.
You’d have to ask him. I could be wrong, but I believe I said, when you asked me a similar question [last time]… I believe I said I don’t think I’m mature enough to get over what’s frustrated me in that relationship. I don’t know if I’m mature enough now, but I’m definitely closer to being over all that.
Malik previously stated in interviews that he left the group due to being unhappy with the group’s musical direction and his inability to “put any input in.” The rift between the members seems to have only grown in the following years after Zayn’s departure.
Later in the conversation, Tomlinson hinted that their friendship might be repaired in the future. It’s worth mentioning that Tomlinson was a primary songwriter in the band. Just like rest of the 1D members, he is also pursuing a solo career. Hopefully, he is able to make peace with old friend in time.
