Alec Baldwin is certainly one of the most well-known and established actors in all of Hollywood. Baldwin is known for his comedy roles but also does serious roles from time to time. He made the news for all the wrong reasons after accidentally shooting a crew member.
As reported earlier, Alec Baldwin was confirmed to be the person who fired the prop gun that killed a female crew member, revealed to be the cinematographer. It took place on the sets of Baldwin’s upcoming western film, Rust.
It was said that two crew members were shot and injured on the Bonanza Creek Ranch set and taken to a hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The woman would lose her life after succumbing to her injury. The woman in question was revealed to be Halyna Hutchins, the movie’s director of photography.
According to TMZ, ‘Rust’ will begin shooting again and will have all its original cast members. However, it will also be executively procured by Hutchins’ widow Matthew Hutchins. Matthew announced that pursuing a lawsuit against Baldwin or the “Rust” producers, saying they have reached terms and agreed to drop his wrongful death lawsuit.
“We have reached a settlement, subject to court approval, for our wrongful death case against the producers of Rust, including Alec Baldwin and Rust Movie Productions, LLC. As part of that settlement, our case will be dismissed.”
He goes on to say, “The filming of Rust, which I will now executive produce, will resume with all the original principal players on board in January 2023. I have no interest in engaging in recriminations or attribution of blame (to the producers or Mr. Baldwin). All of us believe Halyna’s death was a terrible accident. I am grateful that the producers and the entertainment community have come together to pay tribute to Halyna’s final work.”
Alec, for his part, says … “Throughout this difficult process, everyone has maintained the specific desire to do what is best for Halyna’s son. We are grateful to everyone who contributed to the resolution of this tragic and painful situation.” Director Joel Souza also expressed his happiness with this turn of events.
