Conor Mcgregor last competed against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in a brutal fight that saw the former two-time division champion suffer a horrific injury. Since then, McGregor has been in recovery.
However, his return to training has sparked rumors of the return to the octagon by the megastar. Although it is no concrete timeline for his return, there were many notably thrown around by fans. Nate Diaz was the top pick by fans to face McGregor, but he was ruled out of the race after his contract with the company expired.
It seems like even UFC veterans couldn’t stop themselves from weighing in on the much-anticipated return. Henry Cejudo suggested who the UFC veteran should face in his return to the octagon.
“Number one, Jorge Masvidal. This is a good fight for Conor McGregor. Why? Its because there’s really no grappling involved. You want guys that can strike and want to strike, that don’t want to grapple. Plus, Jorge Masvidal hasn’t won a fight, he’s on a three-fight losing streak. But I think Jorge Masvidal would be the best return for him at 170 pounds. They both have a mouthpiece just imagine how many pay-per-views they could sell.”
In the same video, Cejudo suggested five more names that Mcgregor should face in his return. Obviously, he had a lot more to say.
“Number two, I’m going to have to go with the winner of Kamaru Usman and Leon Edwards. If there’s one thing that Conor McGregor has, he’s on that special Dana White’s privilege list. He has the ability to maybe even catch the winner if he plays his cards right and one of them calls him out. I know they would all want to call him out because it’s a huge payday.”
Cejudo also suggested that The Notorious One should face Kevin Holland, Paddy Pimblett, and Colby Covington. There are a lot of options.
While all these are good choices for the former two-time division champion, only time will tell who Mcgregor will fight in his return to the octagon.
