Daniel Cormier is a UFC Hall of Famer. The talented fighter was called in by WWE to officiate the proceedings inside the Fight Pit between Seth Rollins and Matt Riddle at Extreme Rules. That main event match saw a lot of attention, for sure.
The match was intense, and Cormier kept his cool during trying moments in the contest. There was a brief push between Riddle and Cormier, but it happened in the heat of the moment.
Cormier called the match down the middle and Riddle won the match. The match saw Riddle go over following a submission hold as Rollins tapped out. Rollins rocked an RVD gear in Philly.
Daniel was glad to be a part of something that matches his passion and style. While the match he officiated isn’t an octagon, he does know the rules of the match and called it down the middle. While speaking backstage after Extreme Rules, Cormier had nothing but good things to say. That being said, Seth Rollins wasn’t on his best behavior at all.
It was amazing. Those guys fought. You knew that a rivalry like that needed an ending like that. Something very true. Something that could not be questioned, and Matt Riddle got it done. It was tremendous being inside the Fight Pit.
I had to put (Rollins) in his place because he’s been disrespectful. He grabbed me while I was checking on Matt Riddle. But I said I would be fair. I thought that I was that tonight. I came here to do a job and I think I did that job to the best of my abilities.
WWE didn’t let anyone, including Brock Lesnar, interfere during or after the match. It brought relief to the fans who expected unwanted interference from The Beast Incarnate. It appears that if DC does face Lesnar down the line that they will have to set that up on a later date.
Did you enjoy the match as it was called down the middle? Sound off in the comments.
