“Murder, She Wrote” actress and five-time Tony Award winner Angela Lansbury has died at the age of 96. According to her children, Angela Lansbury died peacefully in her sleep.
In a statement to People, her family said that she passed away in her sleep. This announcement did not disclose a cause of death.
“The children of Dame Angela Lansbury are sad to announce that their mother died peacefully in her sleep at home in Los Angeles at 1:30 AM today, Tuesday, October 11, 2022, just five days shy of her 97th birthday,”
Angela Lansbury is survived by her three children, Anthony, Deidre, and David, three grandchildren, Peter, Katherine, and Ian, and five great-grandchildren. A private family ceremony will be conducted at a later date yet to be determined.
Angela Lansbury enjoyed a stellar career boasting a fantastic trophy cabinet consisting of five Tony awards. But it was her role as Jessica Fletcher in “Murder, She Wrote” that catapulted her into international stardom. She earned a dozen Emmy nominations and won four Golden Globes for the role.
