Florida Bodybuilder Charged With Gruesome Murder Of His Ex-Wife

This week, a Florida bodybuilder was charged with the heinous murder of his ex-wife. He is accused of incinerating her body in the backyard. Ian Christopher Baunach, who is 43, a former Marine, was arraigned on first-degree murder charges in the death of Katie Baunach on Monday.

TMZ reports, Katie was last seen alive on September 29th. A friend claimed that she told she was going to Ian’s to get some of her belongings, but she never returned. The next day, police were called to Ian’s home, but he refused to let them in.

Katie’s car was gone when officers returned to the house with a warrant. When detectives entered Ian’s residence, they saw traces of a struggle and blood stains. Officers discovered an AR-15 upper receiver and 13 silencers, as well as a Glock Model 27.40 caliber pistol in a plastic bag on a bookshelf inside a safe.

Katie’s engagement and wedding rings were also present. According to documents, detectives discovered human remains outside of Ian’s residence, including a jawbone with a tooth still attached in a fresh burn pile that smelled like flesh and was near a 50-gallon barrel. The bodybuilder claims he never killed her and that she simply disappeared.

Ian, on the other hand, admitted the two had a fight about another woman. Ian was apprehended two days after Katie died. He was charged with first-degree premeditated murder, physical evidence destruction/concealment, and cremating a dead body. In Tampa court this week, Ian pled not guilty to the charges.

Katie filed for a restraining order against Ian last month after accusing him of abusing one of their children. Baunach faces life in prison or the death sentence if convicted on the state charge of first-degree murder. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
