Sydney Sweeney has become one of the most recognizable stars on television. Sweeney stated a few months back that despite her success, she was not in a position to take a break. However, she recently used a new interview for ELLE magazine’s 2022 Women in Hollywood issue as an opportunity to clarify the not-so-well-received comments.
In a July interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the “Euphoria” star discussed the financial hardships of being a working actor in Los Angeles. At one point, she said, “If I wanted to take a six-month break, I don’t have income to cover that.” The actress’ wish to become a young mother and worries about how that would affect her career were the subjects of a wider conversation.
“I’m worried about how this industry puts stigmas on young women who have children and looks at them in a different light. I was worried that, if I don’t work, there is no money and no support for kids I would have.”
But after that, several followers found themselves in a confusing situation. After all, there is a notion that everyone who appears in a film or television production is well-off.
However, when she was asked about these comments by ELLE for their November issue, Sweeney refused to mention financials at all instead she talked about the family aspect of that discussion. “I was asked if I wanted to have a family and I said yes,” she explained.
“And then I was asked why I didn’t have one yet, and I was like, I don’t have time to take even, like, a six-month break. Like, I don’t have time to be able to start this family. I’m working so much and I’m focusing on that right now.”
Sweeney claimed that the reaction of the general public to that first interview was “skewed” and “taken out of context, which was insane to watch and kind of disappointing.”
Sweeney stated that she wishes to be a working mother one day since she thinks it is important to be able to do so. Keep an eye on Thirsty to get the latest updates.
