Young Thug is currently being held in custody while his RICO case is being tried. The YSL rapper has been active on Twitter, giving the impression that he is in good spirits, but according to his attorney Brian Steele, this is not the case. Steele claims that the “Slime” rapper is “rotting” in jail due to unfair conditions.
Prosecutors requested that the court reschedule Thugga’s trial from its original January start date to March. Thugger’s lawyer claimed that it is “unjust” how Young Thug is rotting in the county jail. He demanded the Honorable Court must intervene to prevent this injustice.
It is unjust that [Young Thug] rots in the County Jail and has not yet been provided complete discovery by the prosecution and is being required to wait on the appointment of counsel for co-indictees. This Honorable Court must intervene to prevent this injustice.
It is unconscionable that the District Attorney’s Office did not provide the Court system with notice that there would be a great need for appointed counsel on an upcoming case well in advance of the return of the indictment.
Brian is upset because Thug’s YSL disciple, Gunna, was denied bail on Thursday, which sparked his wrath. In court, the prosecution argued that the rapper’s bond should not be approved because of potential witness intimidation. The prosecution stated that one of the other co-defendants requested that the conspirator Kitchens be informed that he would be willing to whack someone for him.
Young Thug was denied bond for the third time back in August, during a contentious hearing when Steele implied that the Grammy-winning rapper is the target of a law enforcement vendetta stemming from a drive-by shooting of Lil Wayne’s tour bus in 2015. Two of the many people charged in the Fulton County RICO case with connections to Young Slime Life are Young Thug and Gunna. The trial for Thug is scheduled for March 2023.
