Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is the world’s leading mixed martial arts organization. Zuffa, LLC, a division of Endeavor Group Holdings, owns and runs UFC. Mark Shapiro, president of Endeavor, recently discussed the potential acquisition of WWE.
Following Vince McMahon’s retirement earlier this year, numerous speculations surfaced over the past few months suggesting Endeavor was considering buying the Stamford-based wrestling entertainment company. Shapiro addressed these claims in a recent appearance with The Town podcast, revealing whether his business was considering purchasing WWE, which is said to have a market value of close to $5.63 billion.
That would be something that would be interesting and worth exploring. Would we buy it? Who knows? Last I checked, it wasn’t for sale. We’re interested in anything in the owned sports properties segment.
Since the start of 2022, WWE has seen numerous changes. Former CEO and Chairman Vince McMahon announced his retirement a few months ago amid allegations of wrongdoing. He was followed as the new Chairwoman and Co-CEO by Nick Khan and his daughter, Stephanie McMahon.
Triple H assumed control of the creative process in the interim. He has been appointed as the new CCO. Additionally, Shawn Michaels was given the title of Vice President of Talent Development. Only time will tell if these acquisition talks will turn into reality.
