Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson pushed for the return of Henry Cavill as Superman for nearly six years. The Rock finally succeeded in his efforts to convince the Warner Bros. executives to bring back Henry Cavill. Now, there’s another good news for D.C. fans.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. is currently working on a new Superman movie with Henry Cavill set to reprise his role as the titular character. Cavill last appeared as the Man of Steel in Zack Snyder’s Justice League (released 2021).
Under Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav and Warner Bros. Pictures heads Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy, Warners has an intense desire to reprise the Cavill iteration of the hero. The project that would essentially be Man of Steel 2 is being produced by Charles Roven and is currently in a search for writers. (There is a wishlist, of course. And Christopher McQuarrie, the hand that guides the Mission: Impossible movies was on it. McQuarrie worked with Cavill on the 2018 installment, Fallout, but sources say no official outreach has been made nor may it be feasible, as the director is working on the next back-to-back Impossible installments.)
The Rock has teased a Superman cameo in the upcoming “Black Adam” movie. The Rock previously stated that the old Warner Bros. leadership did not want Henry Cavill back as Superman. Keep reading Thirsty for more.
