Kendrick Lamar is often hailed as one of the greatest lyricists of his generation. The rapper rose to mainstream fame with his second studio album, Good Kid, M.A.A.D City. The album received widespread acclaim from critics as well. The album has made history ahead of its 10th anniversary.

Chart Data reports, Good Kid, M.A.A.D City has spent a full 10 years on Billboard 200. This is the first hip-hop record to accomplish so, meaning Kendrick Lamar has just made a history. It’s worth noting that the album debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 and was ultimately certified triple platinum by the RIAA.

Lamar’s major label debut has maintained its current rank on the chart since taking over Eminem’s The Eminem Show in 2019, The album was ranked 115th in Rolling Stone’s revised list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time in 2020.

The album earned Lamar seven nominations at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year, Best New Artist, and Best Rap Album. He subsequently won his first two Grammy Awards for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for his hit “I.”
