Tyson Fury’s next big fight was supposed to be with either Oleksandr Usyk or Anthony Joshua for his WBC heavyweight championship. But now, he may have to face a former opponent once again.
According to ESPN, Fury is near a deal to fight longtime contender Derek Chisora in December. 3 in London. A potential trilogy between the two.
Fury and Chisora faced each other twice in the past. Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs) won by decision in 2011 and knockout in 2014 respectively. Fury has been in contact for months with Chisora to stay busy in his voluntary title defense.
Fury hasn’t fought since April when he defeated Dillian Whyte in six rounds. He also competed in back-to-back knockout victories over Deontay Wilder that underscored Fury’s place at the pinnacle of the division.
Chisora outpointed longtime contender Kubrat Pulev in July. He then followed up with consecutive decision losses against Usyk and Joseph Parker (twice). The possible third fight between the two is expected to take place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. It has a capacity of 60,000-plus for soccer. Should be a fun match!
