Anna Faris has delivered several great performances throughout her career. She is best known for he role as Christy Plunkett in the CBS sitcom Mom. The actress recently accused Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman of inappropriately touching her.
On the latest episode of Anna Faris is Unqualified podcast, Faris opened up about inappropriate conduct she experienced at a 2006 film set. The 45-year-old actress claimed Reitman slapped her ass on the ‘My Super Ex-Girlfriend’ movie set. She said it was one of her “hardest film experiences” in the industry.
One of my hardest film experiences was with Ivan Reitman. I mean, the idea of attempting to make a comedy under this, like, reign of terror, he was a yeller. He would bring down somebody every day … and my first day, it was me.
Faris spoke about the same incident on her podcast back in 2017, although she did not name Reitman at the time. It was shortly after the #MeToo movement gained traction with accusations against Harvey Weinstein. This time, she went into great detail about the unpleasant event.
And I was terrified truly that Ivan thinks I’m some kind of diva for not coming out of my trailer. I’m like in the middle of the street that’s all lit, it’s a night shoot, and Ivan is just taking me down. He was just like ‘Annie!’ — he always called me Annie — he’s like ‘you can’t play like that around here!’ — and I was like ‘don’t do it, don’t cry, no crying,’ and I felt angry and hurt and humiliated and defensive. Eventually, I said ‘did no one tell you what happened?’ And at that point he kind of just shut up and went behind the camera. But then later he slapped my ass, too. That was a weird moment.
Reitman died in his sleep at the age of 75 in February of this year. As for Faris, she was 30 years old during the shoot of the 2006 comedy. Faris’ candidness regarding her Hollywood experience is just a addition to a long list of industry scandals that actors have previously spoken about.
