Ed Sheeran has quickly grown to become one of the world’s most popular artists in the past decade. The singer-songwriter has sung and written many classic songs over the years. It would only be fitting for Ed Sheeran to be involved in a James Bond project. It turns out that almost happened.
During a recent interview with Peter Crouch, Ed Sheeran brought up James Bond following a discussion involving the two about the second lives awarded to songs in the form of sports stadium singalongs. To this, Ed Sheeran replied, “It’s like a Bond song. You’ve gotta eventually, as an English singer, want to do a Bond song.” Ed Sheeran also stated that it almost went down.
“I was within a fucking gnat’s pube of doing one, They changed directors and then they just changed scripts and that was it. We’d done all the meetings, I started writing it.”
Ed Sheeran was referring to the fact that No Time To Die originally had Danny Boyle attached as a director. However, Danny Boyle left the project and Cary Fukunaga joined as his replacement. Billie Eilish was awarded the honor of doing the James Bond song whose history-making No Time To Die won an Academy Award.
