Sami Zayn is a phenomenon who has achieved great success in the wrestling industry. Sami has played in a number of memorial matches up to this point, but a match means a lot to him. Sami Zayn recently gave an explanation of why the Johnny Knoxville match at WWE WrestleMania 38 is his personal favorite.
Sami Zayn spoke on WWE Deutschland to talk about a variety of subjects. He talked about the crazy match he had with Johnny Knoxville at WrestleMania 38 earlier this year when they had employed a huge mouse trap among other things.
The match was even one of WWE WrestleMania 38’s most notable matches. The fight was the latest in a string of very remarkable celebrity matches over the past few years, which Knoxville won with the aid of his fellow “Jackass” cast members. Even Zayn expressed to WWE Deutschland his admiration for the contest, calling it one of his greatest.
“It’s one of my favorite matches ever. I don’t think a lot of people understand the little things you have to do to make sure it flows so well with someone who’s never done this. So I take a lot of pride in that side of it. … I put it up there with some of my best matches ever, but for different reasons.”
Zayn continued by praising some of his matches with wrestlers like Shinsuke Nakamura, Neville, and his friend/rival Kevin Owens, but he expressed particular pride in the fact that he was able to put on such an amazing performance with a non-trained wrestler.
Additionally, Zayn acknowledged Knoxville’s abilities, saying “He did great. As much as I want to insult him — and I do, I still do insult him every chance I get — but I can’t take that away from him.” The WWE superstar praised Knoxville for remaining true to himself during the contest, rather than aiming to resemble his ideal wrestler in any way.
In the weeks leading up to the match, Knoxville and Zayn traded online jabs constantly. Zayn even went to Knoxville’s hometown to interview locals about the celebrity. However, after watching the game, what did you draw? Let us know in the comments. Keep checking Thirsty for more updates.
