James Corden was recently launched into controversy after Keith McNally, the renowned Balthazar restaurant’s owner in New York City, took to Instagram to criticize James Corden for repeatedly being extremely rude to his staff. However, it appears Corden is unbothered about the allegations as he’s very “Zen” about the restaurant drama.
The “Late Late Show” host, who is 44, finally spoke up after the restaurant’s owner, Keith McNally, referred to him as a “tiny cretin of a man” and “the most abusive customer.” McNally barred James from the Manhattan restaurant after criticizing him of obnoxious behavior. However, the prohibition was overturned just hours later after Corden called to “apologize profusely.”
Following the controversy, Corden told the New York Times, “I haven’t done anything wrong, on any level, So why would I ever cancel this [interview]? I was there. I get it.” He further added that, “I feel so Zen about the whole thing. Because I think it’s so silly. I just think it’s beneath all of us. It’s beneath you. It’s certainly beneath your publication,” He also teased that he might address the controversy on his talk show, noting that he hasn’t “really read” anything McNally wrote on social media.
“I think I’m probably going to have to talk about it on Monday’s show, My feeling, often, is, never explain, never complain. But I’ll probably have to talk about it.”
Meanwhile, McNally’s scathing Instagram post on Monday saw him call the entertainer “the most abusive customer” in the restaurant’s 25-year history. He accused Corden, who has admitted to having anger issues in the past, of treating his servers poorly by demanding free items and yelling at them.
However, several of the restaurant owners came forward to defend Corden. Stratis Morfogen, who has opened 40 restaurants over the years in New York, stated that James is one of the most pleasant and funny people he has ever served, to the point where Stratis said he can’t even imagine James being abrasive. James is also being defended by famed restaurateur Todd English, who said that every time he’s served Corden, the comedian’s been “absolutely lovely” to everyone in the place.
