Babyface has written and produced over 26 number-one R&B hits throughout his career and has earned 12 Grammy Awards. However, according to Babyface his repertoire of certified R&B classics does not define him. The legend believes he is too much of a perfectionist to enjoy his old bangers.

TMZ Hip Hop spoke with Babyface at the release party for his album “Girls Night Out.” He was asked about his own opinions regarding his massive hit count. However, he appears to take all of his success with a grain of salt.

Babyface stated that he never listens to his older work because he knows he’ll find something wrong with it and won’t be able to handle it no matter how successful it was on the charts. In the case of his new album, he admits to giving these tracks just enough of his time before releasing them to the world. That doesn’t mean his supporters agree with him.

The icon created hits like “Every Time I Close My Eyes” and “Whip Appeal” and has written many more songs for Whitney Houston, Madonna, Toni Braxton, and Boyz II Men, among others, selling millions of records. Babyface also rejected Diddy’s year-long conversation about R&B’s death, saying he doesn’t accept it and that his “Girls Night Out” project would keep the party going. “GNO” has already passed the celebrity interest test.
