Bill Paxton died unexpectedly in 2017 following a deadly stroke after heart surgery. His death shocked Hollywood, especially because he was just 61 years old. Bill left behind a storied cinematic career, one of the most notable of which is “Twister.”
Unfortunately, the late Bill Paxton will not appear in the new “Twister” sequel. However, his own flesh and blood gave permission to the sequel. He not only approved of the film but also of the fact that it would include a female lead.
Bill Paxton’s son, James Paxton, told TMZ that “Twisters” has his approval and that he hopes it turns out well. He claims he’d be willing to appear in the film if the producers were interested and wanted to pay proper homage to his father, who starred in the 1996 original. James was actually taken to the set way back and was able to hang around in the famous red truck used on camera, so a cameo would mean a lot to the Paxtons.
While his father was still living, he discussed making a “Twister” sequel and even loved the idea of a daughter character from his and Helen Hunt’s characters taking over the mantle. James is unsure whether Bill’s idea reached the producers at the time. However, the concept is there today since it is exactly the path they are taking in the hopes that Helen Hunt would return.
According to James, the original is iconic, so whoever comes on board will have big shoes to fill, but with the right people, it can be special. He believes “Top Gun: Maverick” is proof of this. Perhaps the upcoming sequel will do right by the Paxtons in some manner, shape, or form.
Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment Production Company will produce and given their involvement in the first one, it’s a safe bet they’ll handle this with care. Let’s see what happens. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
