Warner Bros. Pictures released Black Adam in theaters in the United States on October 21, 2022. Hiram Garcia, the producer of Black Adam, recently expressed his frustration about the film’s post-credit scene being leaked before the premiere. It is the most recent installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU).
After being linked to the role of Teth Adam (a.k.a. Black Adam) since 2007, the film marks Dwayne Johnson’s official introduction to the DCEU. Black Adam follows Teth Adam, an ancient Egyptian who was bestowed with godly powers. He was imprisoned for 5,000 years after being corrupted.
He has since served his sentence, and he is confronted by the world’s modern heroes, including the Justice Society of America. When word spread that Henry Cavill would return in the film as Superman, anticipation for Black Adam’s introduction of several new characters skyrocketed. Following the rumors, the film’s post-credit scene was leaked.
Given that the surprise had been ruined by the leaked video, DC Comics moved to Twitter to spoil Cavill’s Superman appearance in Black Adam. Garcia expressed his dissatisfaction with the leaked cameo in an interview with Slashfilm. Garcia revealed that he and his crew had put in a lot of effort to make the cameo happen. He envisioned it as an “Oh my God!” moment for Cavill fans who have been begging for his return. Garcia concluded that it was simply disappointing, but he believes that some passionate fans would be able to ignore the spoilers and enjoy the surprise.
Oh my God, it is so frustrating. You work so hard, but look, we understand that this ending and this dream, this family dream that we had to bring to life, we knew that it was going to have an effect on the fans that were just like, ‘Oh my God!’ We heard them begging for it for so long. We’ve been wanting it for so long. It’s disappointing that it leaks. You hope that the fans that are so passionate about it really do their best to block it out so that they can go and get the movie and enjoy it.
While the surprise was ruined, the fact that Cavill’s return has been confirmed has still excited many. Finally, Cavill’s return in Black Adam has rekindled interest in Man of Steel 2 and potentially Justice League 2, though both projects are still in the works.
